Green Party Decries Budget Cuts
Urges Mayor Nutter to reconsider deep service cuts to essential city services
Philadelphia, PA - This week, the Green Party of Philadelphia issued a statement on the current budget crises and urged Mayor Nutter to seek alternatives to drastic cuts in city services.
"Economic sacrifices should be made by those most able to bear them, instead of by those least able to resist them," said Green Party member Mike Nance. "One-quarter of Philadelphians live below the poverty line and those families can least afford cutbacks in libraries and other critical city services."

BETH ROCKWELL – GREEN POLITICAL PRISONER OF CONSCIENCE
On Thursday, October 25th, 2007 Beth Rockwell and five other peace protesters from Erie County were sentenced to prison on contempt charges.
The “Erie Six” were sentences to serve five days in jail for refusing to pay fines stemming from their blocking, on March 20th, the doors to the downtown Erie Federal Courthouse. Their protest was intended to serve as a symbolic representation of citizens’ effort to shut-down our governments’ illegal and immoral war on Iraq.
